I. Core Capabilities (Tailored for Large Steel Structures)

1. Heavy-Load Conveying with High Stability

Aimed at the characteristics of large steel structures (heavy weight, large size, long length), the machine is equipped with a reinforced roller conveyor system with the following capabilities:

  • Ultra-high load-bearing capacity: The conveying rollers are forged from high-strength alloy steel, with each roller capable of supporting several tons individually. The full conveyor line steadily transports ultra-heavy workpieces such as 10–50 ton bridge box girders and steel plates thicker than 100mm, free of deformation or jamming issues.
  • Precision conveying control: The conveyor speed is adjustable within a wide range of 0.5 m/min to 5 m/min. Operators can reduce the speed for bulky workpieces requiring thorough deep cleaning to ensure sufficient blasting time. For mass production of lightweight steel structures, increasing the conveyor speed greatly improves production capacity.
  • Anti-offset and anti-tilting design: Guide rails and side limit baffles are installed on both sides of the roller bed. They effectively prevent large components from lateral sliding or tilting during transportation, ensuring uniform blasting coverage across the entire workpiece surface.
  • Compatibility with various steel structure shapes: Roller spacing can be customized to fit the cross-section sizes of H-beams, I-beams, box girders and other profiles. It handles workpieces with a width of 0.5–4 m and a length of 5–30 m, suitable for almost all standard large steel structural components in construction and machinery manufacturing industries.

2. All-Round, High-Intensity Shot Blasting Treatment

The machine is configured with multiple high-power shot blasting turbines (usually 6–12 sets, arranged in upper, lower, left, and right positions) to achieve the following shot blasting capabilities for large steel structures:

  • Dead-angle-free surface coverage:The blast turbines are arranged in a 3D layout, blasting the top, bottom, webs and flanges of large steel structures at the same time. Weld seams and corner sections of box girders can also be fully cleaned, solving the incomplete surface treatment problem frequently seen in traditional shot blasting machines.
  • Adjustable high shot blasting strength: Each blast turbine is fitted with a 15–37 kW motor, supporting an abrasive feed flow of 80–200 kg per minute. It rapidly strips thick mill scale, rust, welding slag and casting sand left after rolling and welding, complying with international surface preparation standards Sa2.5 to Sa3 for steel structures.
  • Surface strengthening function: In addition to surface cleaning, high-speed steel shot impact creates a dense compressive stress layer on steel component surfaces. This improves the fatigue strength and corrosion resistance of workpieces, bringing vital performance enhancement for high-load steel structures including bridge girders and crane beams.

3. Efficient Closed-Loop Media Recycling and Environmental Protection

For large-scale continuous production, the machine is equipped with a high-efficiency media recycling and dust removal system with the following capabilities:

  • High-precision media separation: After blasting, the mixture of steel shot, dust and waste residues is transported to the separator by screw conveyor and bucket elevator. The integrated mechanical screening and air classification achieve over 95% separation efficiency for reusable steel shots. It efficiently separates impurities and reduces the consumption cost of abrasives.
  • Low-emission dust removal: Matched baghouse dust collectors deliver above 99.5% dust capture efficiency, limiting exhaust dust concentration below 30mg/m³ to satisfy rigorous environmental standards for steel structure manufacturing. It eliminates indoor dust pollution and safeguards operators’ physical health.
  • Continuous operation without shutdown: The abrasive recycling system supports online steel shot refilling and replacement, while the dust collector allows on-site cleaning without halting production. This design enables stable 24-hour uninterrupted operation, perfectly matching mass-production steel structure assembly lines.

4. Intelligent Operation and Remote Monitoring

Most large roller conveyor shot blasting machines are equipped with an intelligent control system, with the following capabilities:

  • Parameter visualization setting: Operators can set parameters such as conveying speed, shot blasting turbine start/stop sequence, and media flow rate through the touch screen, and the system will automatically adjust to ensure stable processing quality.
  • Fault self-diagnosis: The system can monitor the running status of rollers, turbines, and dust collectors in real time. If faults such as roller jamming, turbine overload, or dust collector blockage occur, it will automatically alarm and display the fault location, reducing maintenance time.
  • Connection with the production line: It can be seamlessly connected to the steel structure welding line, painting line, and other subsequent processes to form a fully automated production line, reducing manual handling and improving the overall production efficiency of the workshop.

II. Typical Applications in the Steel Structure Industry

1. Construction Steel Structure Industry

  • Application scenarios: Surface cleaning and strengthening of large steel structural components for high-rise buildings, steel structure workshops, stadiums, and airport terminals (e.g., H-beam columns, box beam roof trusses, steel plate wall panels).
  • Application effect: Remove the oxide scale and rust on the surface of steel structures to ensure the adhesion of subsequent anti-corrosion coatings; the surface strengthening function improves the wind and earthquake resistance of steel structures, extending the service life of buildings to over 50 years.

2. Bridge and Highway Engineering Industry

  • Application scenarios: Surface treatment of bridge steel girders, steel box girders, guardrail steel structures, and tunnel support steel frames.
  • Application effect: Clean the welding slag and rust on the surface of bridge steel structures, and form a compressive stress layer on the surface to resist the corrosion of rainwater, salt spray, and other harsh environments. It is a key process to ensure the service life of bridges (especially sea-crossing bridges and coastal bridges).

3. Heavy Machinery Manufacturing Industry

  • Application scenarios:Surface cleaning for large crane beams, steel structure frames of construction machinery such as excavator booms and crane main girders, as well as port machinery steel structures.
  • Application effect:Removes sand and oxide scale from cast steel and welded steel structures, improves surface quality, and guarantees stable subsequent painting and assembly. It prevents coating peeling issues triggered by surface contaminants.

4. Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering Industry

  • Application scenarios: Surface treatment for ship hull steel plates, offshore platform steel structures and port wharf steel piles.
  • Application effect: It delivers high-standard Sa3 surface cleaning. The treated surface can effectively withstand corrosion caused by seawater and marine atmosphere, serving as an essential pre-treatment step before applying heavy-duty anti-corrosion coatings on offshore steel structures.
